The Michihamono HSS Mini Plane Set combines two essential profiles — FLAT for flat and straight surfaces, and CURVED for concave and curved surfaces.

Whether you are shaping a wooden spoon, refining a small dish, making chopsticks or working on detailed craft projects, these compact planes give you excellent control in areas where a full-size plane is simply too large.

FLAT — for flat surfaces and straight shaping

Its compact size makes it especially useful for small workpieces and precise finishing. Ideal for:

CURVED — for shaping concave and curved surfaces

The curved sole follows hollow and curved forms that are difficult to work with using a conventional flat plane. The small body allows you to work directly and precisely on the shape. Ideal for:

HSS Cutting Edge

Both planes use a 14 mm High-Speed Steel (HSS) cutting edge. HSS provides excellent edge retention, making it especially suitable for repeated detailed carving and shaping.

The blade has a laminated two-layer construction, combining an HSS cutting edge with softer backing steel, allowing the blade to be resharpened when necessary. Sharpness that lasts — and a blade designed to be sharpened again.

Easy Blade Adjustment

Cutting depth can be adjusted with the built-in screw mechanism. This makes it relatively easy to make fine adjustments to the blade projection according to the wood, shape and amount of material you want to remove. From fine finishing shavings to more active shaping, adjust the blade to suit your work.

Compact Ebony Body

Despite its small size, each plane features a body made from ebony wood. The dense, dark wood gives the tool a solid feel and a distinctive appearance. At only approximately 80 mm long, the plane fits naturally in the hand and provides direct control over small and detailed workpieces.
